Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (240g) sesame flour
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for a hint of sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sesame flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or fork, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the milk and honey (if using) and stir gently until combined. Do not overmix!
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead just until it holds together. Pat or roll the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added texture and flavor.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow biscuits to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
