Ingredients:
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- ½ cup whole milk, at room temperature
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour the cake pan (or pans) lightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding the dry mixture and the milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Mix until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
