Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk, at room temperature

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour the cake pan (or pans) lightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Alternate adding the dry mixture and the milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  7. Mix until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
