Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted if desired)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the dry mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Pour the batter into the greased baking pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. While the cake is baking, mix the chopped pecans, melted butter, powdered sugar, and heavy cream in a bowl until combined.
