Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted if desired)
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Alternately add the dry mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Pour the batter into the greased baking pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, mix the chopped pecans, melted butter, powdered sugar, and heavy cream in a bowl until combined.
- Once baked
- Allow the cake to cool for 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
