- 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
- ½ cup (60g) toasted sesame seeds
- ½ cup (60g) chopped nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts, or pecans)
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for sprinkling (optional)
- Extra melted butter, for brushing
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in buttermilk until just combined; avoid over-mixing.
- Cover the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Combine toasted sesame seeds, chopped nuts, honey (or maple syrup), and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the chilled dough to about ½ inch thickness.
- Cut out rounds or shapes from the dough using a cookie cutter.
- Spoon a small amount of the nutty filling onto each round.
- Fold or roll the dough to enclose the filling, pinching to seal.
- Place the biscuits on a prepared baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with additional sesame seeds.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let the biscuits cool for a few minutes before serving.
