Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Brioche bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted butter, melted
  • 21 oz Premium canned apple pie filling
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 4 Large eggs
  • 2 Egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla bean paste
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup Salted caramel sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the brioche cubes on a baking sheet and toast for 10 minutes until they are dry and firm to the touch.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 4 eggs, 2 egg yolks, and 3/4 cup granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and slightly frothy.
  3. Slowly whisk in the 2 cups whole milk, 1 cup heavy cream, 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, and 1/2 tsp kosher salt until fully emulsified.
  4. Grease a 9x13 inch ceramic baking dish with the 3 tbsp of melted butter.
  5. Toss the toasted bread cubes with the apple pie filling in the prepared dish, ensuring even distribution.
  6. Pour the custard mixture over the bread and apples. Press down slightly on the bread to ensure every cube is submerged.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown and crisp.
  8. Remove from oven and drizzle with 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce while still warm.
